Why doesn't someone make a formal complaint about Ashcroft? He apparently isn't on the electoral register anywhere, his companies are a web of international intrigue (some British, some not British) and the Tories appear to be lying about his tax and residence status.
Ashcroft's ill-gotten gains which may have been illegally donated to the Tories are funding nasty, personal attacks against some of our brightest and best candidates.
Plus he's paying millions in to the Tories nationally.
If someone is the majority (or outright) owner of a company and therefore has the power to direct that company to make a political donation, surely that should be seen in the same way as Abrahams' donations via proxy or Hain's imaginary think tank.
Otherwise why doesn't everyone who wants to make a secret donation just register an imaginary company and make the donations through that...
HOLD ON A MINUTE - THAT'S JUST WHAT LOTS OF THE TORIES HAVE DONE....

Scottish Labour leader Wendy Alexander will not be prosecuted for the donations she received.
Its nice to see the genuine relief and smile on her face.. hope she can now refocus on tackling the SNP.

I'm on the left of the party, the moderate left to be precise, and I'm absolutely appalled by pretty much everything the Labour government has done since Gordon Brown became party leader and Prime Minister. I've come to a decision that I am going to cancel my membership subscription and redirect the money to more progressive causes. Can you offer suggestions?

Haven't we listened to the grassroots. Cruddas showed us that listening to the party gets you support. The issue of donations is interesting, but not impossible. You would find that my union Unite as well as Unison, CWU and GMB, would give more money to the party if the party would listen more and implement Warwick. I know that my union would give more. This is the solution to our funding problem not state funding!. Lets keep the union link and during internal elections let candidates apply to their union for support!

It is time for us to be pretty blunt and self-critical as a party, and some big decisions and changes are necessary. The crisis in the party and the government has reached a critical point, and waiting it out is no longer an option.

Apparently Peter Hain is both opposed to the extortionate bonuses some city workers get, but according to
BBC News online, also supportive of them.
