How do we get members interested and involved on the ground?
Has anyone got any good ideas/ can speak from experience on how to get people involved in the labour party on the ward level?
I have just taken over as ward secretary of a London clp which is reasonably strong (solid labour seat, labour borough council) and we have approximately 70 members in the ward - I have been writing to/emailing them telling them about our exciting meetings but we only ever get three or four normal members maximum (plus the three councillors) at ward meetings so am beginning to dispair.
As the Mayorial/ GLA election approaches I expect more people to get involved in delivering leaflets/campaigning but no-one seems to want to come to meetings? Do other people get more people at their ward meetings or is this level of turn out all that can be expected? Also what do people do at ward meetings - we tend to chat about campaigning and such matters which I can see is a bit dull (but essential) and given the current number of people attending I'd be reluctant to get outside speakers
