Labour should close the war pension loophole which keeps many in poverty
As our thoughts turn to our war dead in our annual act of remembrance, the BBC has highlighted the plight of some of our war living:
Injured veterans are being refused benefits and are ending up living in poverty because of a loophole in benefit rules, the BBC has learned.
Some veterans who get a pension for their disabilities are being refused income support.
The Royal British Legion believes the issue may affect 60,000 men and women.
Harriet Harman shines at PMQs
Harriet Harman performed well at both jokes and content at PMQs today, standing in for Gordon who is at a NATO summit trying to figure out what can still be done in Afghanistan. Both Iain Dale and Kevin Maguire thought Harriet won the occasion.
What a 'tosser'
Surely somebody else could be put up to doing PMQS. Prescott has had most of his other jobs taken from him.
Usually, it's a laugh (mostly at him, but he can crack a good joke every now and then), but even by his own awful standards, it was an embarrassment.
How pathetic does the Labour Party look when a quick clever and informed debater like Hague comes up against a man that could do little more than throw out insults, a man that has next to no credibility and a man with about as good a grasp of the facts as I do of Kazakhstan politics.
For all his many faults, I always quite liked Prescott because I like many others perceived him to be honest, and Labour to the core. In light of his shameful conduct, I find it hard to believe he could be given such a responsibility, not withstanding the fact he's as honourable as Jeffrey Archer, the man is terrible at his job.
That being said, any suggestions as to who could have been put up to the job?
Would have been nice to perhaps throw somebody like David Miliband in there or perhaps John Reid.
Row at PMQS
Look at the clip, the PM began to get up to answer and THEN the speaker interupts. They are using the pathetic excuse that the speaker is technically a labour MP to smear the PM.
Why should the PM be 'afraid' when he gave such a fantastic response?
He was great at PMQS today, the labour benches were as supportive as I've seen them in a while, and blair was on top of a desperate cameron.
Why he didn't slam him on his disgraceful way way off predictions of nhs job cuts is beyond me.
Most importantly though, doesn't this tell you something about saint cameron who came to clear up 'punch and judy' politics, yet has taken it to new heights of desperation?
He gets a few questions, ONCE a week, and time and again, despite all the problems he says he wants to 'work with the government' to solve, he launches what can only be described as personal attacks on the pm.
Shambolic if you ask me, and if I were a voter in a tory constituency, which sadly I am, I'd be writing to my mp telling him what a disgrace his leader is.
