The words of a union insider to me this week, reacting to Tory suggestions that next week's National Policy Forum will involve a 'dodgy deal' as part of the second Warwick Agreement. I report for Tribune magazine, and on my blog I've posted some thoughts on the atmosphere I've encountered this week. Comments welcome.

NPF - could it ever embarass?

Does anybody here (including those standing for election to the NEC) believe that a National Policy Forum could ever produce policies with which the party leadership is not comfortable?

Labour - giving members a say ballot

Members in my Constituency Labour Party (CLP) - Cities of London and Westminster - are to be given a say in deciding who our 2007 Annual Conference delegate should vote for in the London region section of the National Policy Forum representatives   ballot next month. It will be a postal affair.

Laura Bruni for NPF

Laura Bruni has been an active member of the Labour Party since 1986, and she has substantial Parliamentary, organisation and campaigning experience. Between 1997 to 2005 she worked as Parliamentary Assistant to John Cryer MP, the Labour MP for Hornchurch. Before that up to 1997, she was a constituency caseworker for the late Bernie Grant MP and also managed his successful campaign for the regulation of immigration advisers.

NPF to discuss Party Reform Proposals

This weekend, the NPF is to discuss Gordon Brown's proposals for reforming the party.

The proposals include ending contemporary resolution debates at annual conference and an OMOV vote of party members on the final policy documents which feed into the next General Election manifesto.
