Fortunately for the Labour Party, Boris Johnson not only remains a contradiction incarnate but now provides the public a high-profile fishbowl of Tory (opportunistic) contradictions too! As we know, despite his, and the Tory Party’s, proclamations, Johnson’s actual policies contradict them and do not give anyone any confidence that they will help lead toward the proclaimed goals. How would Johnson justify and reconcile his apparent anti-crime tough stance with his actual opposition to the proposed automatic five-year sentence for knife/firearm possession? Or reconciling Cameron’s green leanings with his own declared intention to undermine Ken’s new Congestion Charge initiatives against the gas guzzlers?   

In the general sadness and shock at Ken losing the Mayorality (and Boris winning) comrades may have missed a couple of things. First of all there were swings TO Labour in several places and we won an extra GLA constituency (Brent and Harrow, Navin Shah).

I'm obviously biased here, but I genuinely thought Ken won it.

Leaders from across the centre-left, civil society and from all corners of the UK, have today urged every progressive voter; activist and organisation to get behind the campaign to re-elect Ken Livingstone, in a statement co-ordinated by Compass.

The London Labour Party has launched a website for the re-election of London Mayor Ken Livingstone. So far the website KenLivingstone.com only has a request for donations and to enable activists to sign up for email alerts.  More to follow.

As we all suspected (well, i know I did) the Tories have overwhelmingly selected Boris Johnson as their candidate for next year's Mayoral elections in London:

Bring it on!

Mayor Ken Livingstone must be trembling in his seat as the Conservatives unveiled Boff, Borwick, Lightfoot and Boris as their shortlist of candidates to take him on in next year's London Mayoral election. Or is that not trembling, but hysterical laughter!!  Never mind, not content with imposing Labour Donors as Tory candidates, 'Dave C the boy genius' has gone the whole hog, and come up with a new and amazing ruse to give EVERY London Labour Party member, supporter and elector a vote in deciding which one of these esteemed candidates (losers) that Ken should face.
 
All that remains is for us to decide which one we should all vote for!!
