Did anyone notice what the German Ambassador said on BBC’s Newsnight (6 October’08)? He categorically said that despite Germany’s efforts/proposal a year ago to bring in global regulations to control the banks – which Gordon claimed at the Party Conference to have attempted – UK and USA blocked it!

The Guardian calls this Balls' "Bullingdon Moment" and with that reshuffle due on Friday... errr.... oh dear.... 

How can we possibly present a coherent message when our cabinet presents such a contradictory message?

It is reported: "Ed Balls, the schools secretary, today issued a veiled threat to David Miliband as he warned that any challenge to Gordon Brown's leadership would be "crazy, destructive and divisive". (see here)

The Labour right are on the march and want to take us back to the failed policies of Blair - and worse: even to a new cold war. It's time we fought back and promoted our own successor generation.

I have a good deal of respect (or perhaps I should now state 'did have') for John Rentoul but his piece in today's IoS is just silly.

Why? For three main reasons:

Ed Balls (Normanton MP), Jon Trickett (Hemsworth MP), Yvette Cooper (Pontefract & Castleford MP) and Mary Creagh (Wakefield MP)have launched a legal fight in the High Court against the boundary changes in West Yorkshire area (in particular the abolition of the Normanton constituency).
