Nick Robinson has noted in his blog how quickly David Cameron has backed away from blaming Gordon Brown for the problems at Northern Rock.

First Direct internet bank (HSBC's online bank) is the first internet bank in the UK to start charging customers who have less than 1500 pounds turnover per month through their standard Current account. A charge for which will be £10 a month service fee.This will be waived if there's a lone or if there's a more profitable service taken up by the customer. It is  First Direct wishes to drive all way non-profitable accounts and  drum up more higher yield business . Most European countries run the system already, but it must be said that the UK's banking industry is generally more efficient and profitable per capita. It will be interesting to see if other high-street banks, as well as online banks follow this market model. If this is the case the relatively low paid will be driven into the arms of other financial resources.... Of course there is the exclusive end of the market.
