Corrupt - Eshaq Khan (tory...who else?)

This is the sort of news that should be making headlines; please read the judgment of Eshaq Khan's "corrupt and illegal practices."

He stole the election by registering hundreds of postal voters (conservative voters naturally...).

I hope the by-election will show the public how corrupt the tory party really is. Talk about flouting democracy.

Re: Corrupt - Eshaq Khan (tory...who else?) (#1)

Are you seriously suggesting that nobody in the Labour Party has ever done this? Ever?

It was this Labour govt who expanded postal voting in an alleged attempt to increase turnout - even though there are other ways to do so which do not compromise the secret ballot but have not been implemented - and has since ignored repeated complaints that this sort of thing can happen.

It is one thing for a party to have some individual corrupt people in it. All large organisations do, that's inevitable. It's another thing entirely to knowingly and as policy open up the electoral process to easier corruption.

I think Mr Swanson answers this post pretty much perfectly.

Come on Fortheunion, must do better...

Re: Corrupt - Eshaq Khan (tory...who else?) (#3)

Do I remember malpractice such as this up in Birmingham, involving many labour councillors and members?  This link may shed some light: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/4406575.stm

I don't say this to make silly party political points, but merely point out that this problem affects all parties - to claim that the 'Tories are inherently corrupt' and that the Labour is 'purer than pure' in the words of Tony Blair is somewhat infantile.

Re: Corrupt - Eshaq Khan (tory...who else?) (#4)

Isnt it time that we acknowledged that as affecting ALL parties it seems to disproportionately involve Asian candidates? Slough, Oldham, Blackburn, Birmingham, Bradford, Coventry, Tower Hamlets...

Re: Corrupt - Eshaq Khan (tory...who else?) (#5)

That does seem to be the case.  The problem is, how does one address this issue without the perennial cries of racism?
