Exactly the sort of thing Labour should do more of - being a PARTY!

A young Labour Party member in the North West, Sam Dent, has organised a debate and band night at teh Citadel Theatre in St Helens, Merseyside. Details are below.

But I have to say this is exactly the sort of thing the Party needs if it is to have a future. We need to be fun and we need to have a thriving grassroots that actually does things outside of delivering leaflets.

Sam is only 17, please support this event if you can. If you can't then leave a comment below encourage him to keep up the good work.

Re: Exactly the sort of thing Labour (#1)

Sounds excellent. Well done Sam.

As well as partying with the converted it would be a good idea to try to get people who aren't Labour Party members but who might be interested in joining to come along. Get in touch with local trade union branches and make sure their young members know about the gig. Tell local charities and campaigning groups.

Hope it goes well

Re: Exactly the sort of thing Labour (#4)

Good to hear the support for this event. Even if you can't come please pass on the details to people you know who might be interested. The idea behind this is to engage young people in politics as let's face it they aren't going to be engaged by delivering leaflets or sitting in meetings with people who aren't of their generation (unless of course they are unusually intruiged by politics, as I am).

It's great to be involved in an event like this let's hope there are many more like this to come.

Re: Exactly (#2)

Sounds a really good idea.  Can't make it I'm afraid - but best of luck with it, and I agree, it's just the sort of thing we should be doing.
