From HoT to HaH: A Pair of Utterly Meaningless By-Elections

Mark Twain once remarked that the wonderful thing about science was the remarkable return of conjecture from a small investment of fact. The same goes for this pair of meaningless by-elections with pundits great and small allowing their analysis to run rings around the limited facts to hand. Actually it's simple. Our vote stayed at home.
Crewe mattered, Sedgefield mattered, and Ealing Southall mattered. But HoT and HaH have little or no meaning for Labour. HoT has some for the Lib Dems i.e. "you're stuffed". But HaH matters only for the 26 half sharps whose names are actually printed on the ballots.
Whether we are for or against 42 days, 28 days, capital punishment, section 28 and unnecessary by-elections matters not. This should be a ritual pricking of David Davis' pomposity with 18 daft lads and seven daft girls as extras.
We should ALL have Cameron on the ropes over this. One of his SMT has cut lose. Gone bananas. Lost the plot. Ignored all party discipline. Tired of being frozen out - even on his own portfolio.
We should ALL have Cameron on the ropes too over the baker's dozen or so of his parliamentary groups in Westminster and Strasbourg who have not declared, declared late, tried to cover up etc embarrassing donations; or who have dipped way, way too deep in the gravy.
What we seem to have instead is a "remarkable return of conjecture from a small investment of fact". Disproportionate doom and gloom.
And shift to the lefters claiming this proves we must shift to the left, Compassites calling for a headless-chicken of a seminar and yet another will-the-ends pamphlet, the triangulating roundheads getting their protractors out, the wannabe leaders' camps sharpening their knives, the "no strings" funders pulling stroke after stroke, and Progress concentrating on upsetting Shami Chakrabarti.
Go after Cameron. Go after Davis. Go after Clegg - whose paratrooper has just failed despite throwing everything at HoT. Go after Cameron's baker's dozen of donation and expenses cheats.
Leave Gordon alone. Go get Nanny Caroline and Oily Alan.
