Re: PROGRESS: What if (#1)

TBH I would prefer a grand coalition of Tory and Labour to tackle Cimate Change on a non-partisan basis and then have another election once the policies are in place and neither party can use climate change as a political football!

Re: PROGRESS: What if (#2)

There will be a Coalition Govt or Labour goes it alone as a Minority Govt. We've been there before, 1974.

Re: What if the next election (#3)

We have to prepare for this, by reforming the electoral system. An oppertunist move, yes. But the right one. AV+ for the commons. This could increase the chances of the Lib-Dems being willing to enter a coalition with Labour. I personally believe, that an amendment to this, should be that the largest party always forms the government. But if the Lib Dems are close to Labour at the time, and refuse a coalition with the Tories, there would be another election.

Re: What if the next election (#4)

I hope if it achieves nothing else, the government grasps the nettle of electoral reform and soon. I live in a Tory-Liberal swing seat, and I'm fed up of my Labour vote not counting for anything.

Re: What if the next election (#6)

Probably the most pertinent comment made on LH on this topic.

Re: What if the next election (#5)

Opportunist is an understatement. It would be the final nail in the coffin. I think the electorate would (rightly) be disgusted with such an unprincipled and desperate attempt to remain in office. I would share that disgust. Are we so bereft of ideas and idealism that we feel the need to resort to such chicanery?
