The demands of our core vote and activists

I have listened to what has been said on these blogs and so I have to a comprimise list on what we should do now as a part.

We must rally around the party flag and Gordon
We must make sure we are clear about the 10p tax rate
Look at giving workers a christmas bonus eg raise the tax threshold
Raise the minimum wage for all young people

Show we care!!

I don't think he was suggesting raising the minimum wage to over £36k a year buddy.

Re: The demands of our core vote and activists (#3)

what I think is, all the means testing is hated by ever body who has to endure cringing way poor people have had to suffer under this Labour Govenment.                                     What people want is a pension thats thier right,a wage that is tax free  of say £10,000 a year. afair council tax not means tested, say £500 ayear . A proper job, not a agency rip off take a cut from your wage, low paid. A fair contract of laboure, no unreasonable working work load for low pay.

Re: The demands of our core vote and activists (#4)

One thing we could look at is council tax for people in rented accommodation.  After all, the value of the property is no measure of ability to pay at all if you are renting.  Surely there should be another measure?

Re: The demands of our core vote and activists (#5)

Sorry John, utterly disagree with you. Unless Gordon Brown gets  on the road to Damascus and changes policy direction there is no chance I'm rallying round him. It is Brown's refusal to  listen to Labour voices and dogged  pursuit of neo-liberal policies which have got us into this mess . The idea  of rallying round more privatisation, more  punitive welfare reforms, more triangulation to the right  to appease  Tories who are flocking back to Cameon. No thanks. Maybe  he will  change. But am 99 per cent certain  that he won't.In which case the  only  purpose we are serving  by sticking by himis  to act as cannon fodder for  the  Armageddon coming at the next election

Re: The demands of our core vote and activists (#8)

Dear Sue

I know what you are saying, and I agree, but the choice we face is that Brown is getting so trounced at the moment we need to sure up the party.

the attack should be taken to Cameron not our leader.

Re: The demands of our core vote and activists (#7)

If "our" leader isn't listening then it's the  job of MPs to  do their best to stop Cameron. That  may  mean a leadership change. Brown  has   a few months  to   sort it out
