BNP intimidating local Barking & Dagenham Paper
The BNP were out in force as they attempted to intimidate a local paper, Archant's Barking & Dagenham Recorder, into giving them a better press in the London elections.
The paper reports that Bob Bailey, the far-right party's deputy council group leader, is reported to have launched into a "foul mouthed tirade" at the paper's news editor.
Along with a generous sprinking of swearwords, he shouted: "When we have control on Barking and Dagenham Council we are going to hit you where it hurts. You won't see a penny from us and we will tell everyone to boycott your paper."
After hanging up, he turned up at their offices mob handed.
They proceeded to shout through megaphones, intimidate the staff and, ironically, called staff members Nazis.
The newspaper's editor is now considering a complaint to the Standards Board for England, who have the power disqualify councillors from office.
