39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES

Here's the list of the 39 tax rebels who won't be bought off by fudging and faux appeals to Party unity.

I'm very glad to say it includes FOUR West Yorkshire MPs, including Calder Valley's Chris McCafferty ( well done, Chris) Halifax's Linda Riordan (likewise), Mike Wood, Batley and Spen and Ann Cryer from Keighley. Jons Trickett and Cruddas and John McDonnell have also signed.
Here's the full list:
Frank Field, Kate Hoey, John Cruddas, Ann Cryer, Janet Anderson , Jon Trickett, John Battle, Jeremy Corbyn, Paul Farrelly, Ian Gibson, Dai havard, Andrew Mackinlay, John McDonnell, Austin Mitchell, Marsha Singh, David Taylor, Alan Simpson, Karen Buck, Jim Dobbin, Mark Fisher, Roger Godsiff, George Howarth, David Marshall, Dianne Abbott, Greg Pope, Geraldine Smith, Betty Wiliams, David Drew, Michael Connarty, Jim Dowd, Paul Flynn, Fabian Hamilton, Peter Kilfoyle, Chris McCafferty, Linda Riordan, Gordon Prentice, Gisela Stuart, Mike Wood, Katy Clark.

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#1)

Fantastic. I'm pleased to see Trickett & Cruddas there.

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#2)

Umm Grim,

I actually count 8 West Yorks MPs. John Battle, Marsha Singh, Fabian Hamilton and although it might appear he represents Compass Constituency Jon Trickett represents Hemsworth in Wakefield District to add to your 4 West Yorkshire favourites. I would also bet on Paul Truswell in Pudsey as where John Battle and Fabian Hamilton go then Paul Truswell tends to follow - and sometimes vice-versa.

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#5)

You're right- I was focussing    on those  in  immediate vicinity. Well done West Yorkshire!

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#3)

Gisela Stuart? Wow, the government IS in trouble.

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#4)

The only Labour MP to explicity back Bush for re-election. I think the government are certainly in trouble if she is turning against them!

And some of these other MPs aren't very left wing. Frank Field himself is associated with some pro-privatision think tank along with a load of Tories.

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#6)

Thank the lord, now I am going to retire. Cruddas and McDonnell on the same motion.  This means at last the centre-left and left working together.  I am proud to be a Labour party member!!

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#7)

I don't think Frank Field and Jeremy Corbyn have very much in common apart from being born rebels.

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#8)

The 39 MPs all deserve medals.

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#10)

Well done the 39 for forcing Browns hand and restoring sanity; hope its not too late. I was out on Monday knocking doors and all I got was an earful on the 10p base rate, and this from loyal Labour supporters.

Sometimes you have to say things, that maybe at the wrong time, but I thought of the party

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#11)

Here is an electronic copy of Frank Fields' amendment that won the day from Sam Coates' blog at the Times. I don't pretend to understand all these things but could someone explain why six MPs (Field, Cruddas, Anderson, Trickett etc) are seperate to the other 33 listed. Does this mean that they sponsored it or something?

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#12)

Yes, the first six are always the sponsors (on EDMs as well).

Re: 39 STEPS BACK TO LABOUR VALUES (#13)

I'm abstaining. No point voting for a party that impoverishes people so callously.
