Boris 42% Ken 41%

Ken's catching up. Could a comeback be on the cards?

In today's ICM poll for the Guardian, Boris has 42% of first preferences, with Ken on 41% and Brian Paddick on 10%.

When second preferences are taken into account, Boris leads narrowly over Ken 51% to 49%.

This is certainly a massive improvement on recent polls which showed Boris with large leads, but they were criticised by some for underestimating the amount of ethnic minority voters (which tend to go for Ken). Maybe this poll is a bit more of an accurate reflection of reality.

Re: Boris 42% Ken 41% (#1)

although more evidence we're going to have to work our b--locks off to win this election which in the context of the national situation is the most important election since the post of mayor was created.

Re: Boris 42% Ken 41% (#2)

Ken is the true Londonder who cares truly about London.  As Boris Johnson's attempts to hide away and say nothing are exposed people will realise that his silence on issues masks ignorance of them.  Ken's a street fighter and he will pull through in the end.

Re: Boris 42% Ken 41% (#3)

If you'd done your research, you'd know that ICM phone polls have always over-estimated Ken's lead and did so at the last two mayoral elections.  Yougov has always been more accurate relative to the final result and has Boris further ahead.

Re: Boris 42% Ken 41% (#4)

Isn't it funny how those on ConHome always think the polls where they are ahead are the most accurate.

The YouGov polls underestimate the number of ethnic minorities and that's why they've inflated Boris' lead. Nobody could seriously believe that a man as incompetent as Boris would have a double digit lead.
