Rattled Johnson's scatter gun approach to transport

Boris Johnson’s well documented ‘bus blunder’ seems to have gotten his campaign a bit jittery.  They are now spewing forth a range of inaccurate, misleading or downright weird comments.

First off, his campaign issued a statement attacking the Transport Commissioner Peter Hendy, suggesting he doesn’t use buses.  A bit rich coming from Boris Johnson (who seems to only use public transport if there’s a photo op), but also completely inaccurate.  Anyone who has ever heard Peter Hendy speak will know he’s extremely keen on the buses – unsurprising for someone who is a former bus conductor.

On from there, Team Boris stuck up a lying leaflet saying that Ken had a “secret plan” to extend the Congestion Charge.  Categorically untrue said Ken at his press conference this morning.

Now, Johnson has been on to the Jeremy Vine show on BBC Radio 2 to have a go at pedestrians – calling them “the most dangerous features on the road at the moment”.  We know he’s doing all he can to defend big 4x4 vehicles from Ken’s CO2 charge, but saying people trying to cross a road are more dangerous than Rhino-barred SUVs is just odd.

Johnson’s team seem to want to get back in the headlines after Ken’s transport manifesto launch – but they’re getting in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
