Re: Cameron's money men (#1)

Highly amusing to see the hypocritical stance taken by Labour on the financial situation at the moment. Hows about old Paul Myners of hedge fund manager GLG, biggest short seller of Bradford and Bingley. (Donor to Labour, crony of Gordon's, Smith Institute, appointee etc). Hows about £1 million from the non-exec chairman of Man Group (UK's largets quoted hedge fund group). Then there is nice Mr Tullet, another large Labour donor, his broking firm services hedge funds who want to go short on stocks and deritatives. I'm afraid the list goes on and on. Unite should really be holding wee protests outside the offices of the Guardian as Myner's chairs it's holding company. Be very careful what you say about Tory finances, hypocracy on this scale is not pretty.

Re: Cameron's money men (#4)

Hypocrisy is promising to change politics and then charging 50K for meetings in your office. Perception is all - and it appears that those who have cash are privileged in their access to those in power. Then again, we all knew that didnt we - the tories would never change.

Cash for policies? "Would you want a tax cut, or no NMW?"

Re: Cameron's money men (#6)

Paul Myners now in charge of business for the government, methinks the original poster may wish he'd never come up with this.

Also available on YouTube. Are we able to embed YouTube vids Alex?

Re: Cameron's money men (#3)

Actually, I'm wrong it's not on YouTube (that I can find). I was mixing it up with a previous Dispaches called Cameron: Toff at the Top.

Re: Cameron's money men (#5)

All true, but over the last twenty years New Labour has forfeited our right to take the moral high ground on this one.

Re: Cameron's money men (#7)

Channel 4 bites back after Tory complaints:
www.labourmatters.com/.../channel-4-fights-tory-complaints-over-camerons-money-men/

“Channel 4 is quite surprised that the Tories are making a point over this donation of £334 when in the programme we are raising questions about a £3 million donation from Lord Ashcroft and as yet the Tories haven’t come back on that at all.

“We are very confident that we haven’t flouted any election regulations. It’s completely legitimate to make such a small donation as part of a journalistic enquiry to test compliance procedures. We are very robust about this.”

 Adding:

“We were completely open and transparent, in contrast with Lord Ashcroft about where his donations are coming from.”

Ouch!
