Memo to Jacqui, you don't to have to act like a macho man to prove that you can do the job.  In fact, were you to actually display some female emphaty about some of the REAL issues facing British citizens today, you would probably win more support.

Where is your female and legal emphathy with rape victims, low paid cleaners being fleeced and not being paid the minimum wage by rogue employers.

Where is your emphathy for families without proper street lightening or youth workers trying to keep young men and women off the street and away from crime?

THESE are just some of the areas you should be focussing on as Home Secretarry - jointly and co-operativly with your cabinet colleagues -  not spending all your time thinking up the next plan to steal away our liberty.

Some out there might start to believe that these increasingly authoritarian wheezes are being forced on us because you want to look tough and feel insecure about being a female home secretary.

I really hope that this is not the case.
