swat's almanack says non alignment is the best policy

The best policy that developing countries can adopt is that of Non-Alignment. Tito and Nehru understood that all too well in the sixties and seventies. Where you have two opposing philosophies or superpowers, the best path is one straight down the middle. Yes, you can be courted by both, and accept aid and assistance from both to develop your economies, but you should not promise anything in return, certainly not the permission to build military bases. Any newly independent countries should bear that in mind.

Re: non alignment is the best policy (#1)

So Swatantra, you stated your belief in the policy of non alignment for developing countries. You've told us who two states were that were non aligned during the cold war. You've come up with a tautology in that "Where you have two opposing philosophies or superpowers, the best path is one straight down the middle." which is, by definition, what non alignment is. Finally, you implied that the cold war situation is analogous to today and repeated that countries should follow the non alignment policy.

You haven't bothered to tell us why non alignment is a better policy, either during the cold war or today. Do you care to actually make a coherent argument, or are you just content to rely on broad statements and tautology?
