Paul Murphy goes back to Wales

GB's reshuffle continues

Paul Murphy has been appointed Secretary of State for Wales. Again.

It is not yet clear whether this is a stand-alone appointment given that for the last few years Wales has been a part-time role given to toher cabinet Ministers.

Murphy was Northern Ireland and Wales Secretary when he was taken ill and stood down from Government a couple of years ago.

At least he's really Welsh . . .

You keep him not many down here want him anymore.

Re: Paul Murphy goes back to Wales (#2)

Paul Flynn has done a fairly kind and interesting blog piece on him.  He's quite a character, though not admired by many by the sound of it.

Re: Paul Murphy goes back to Wales (#3)

Seeing him on Dragon's Eye he seemed to be hinting that before the Assembly started asking for more powers it might consider delivering on the areas under its control first.  I suspect that is the scepticism of the majority of Wales or am merely projecting my own views here?

Certainly it would have been useful for Rhun ap Iorwerth to have asked him that when he had the opportunity twice during his interview but the bloke is about as nimble as bambi on ice.

One suspects the answer would have been that they should stop pratting about over smacking and sort out the health service and education.
