Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#1)

Just a quick question John: Just wondering - you're a teacher but you're in Amicus - why not NUT/NASUWT? I didn't know Amicus did education - though if it does that's great, as I'm intending to become a teacher but would like to be in a Labour-affiliated union.
All the best, JB

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#2)

I am also a member of the NUT.  The Unite education sector is concentrated in higher and sixth form colleges. I teach secondary and sixth form and respresent a number of technicians and caretakers as well as office staff/teachers.

Thanks

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#3)

Sorry to pick on you again John, but your standard of English worries me (especially given that you're a teacher). You're not John Prescott in disguise are you?

On your CV, you say "Through my work as a teacher and a local Councillor I have developed excellent communication skills."

And yet, the poll at the bottom of your web-page says:

"Is GRA and Members first slate members democractic or not?"

Hmm.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#4)

Ha I'm sused my friend, good point though, I thought I would ask the question as it has been a theme of the campaign so far.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#5)

John, you seem alright but this is getting laughable. I dont understand half of what you are writing.

The big issue here is how you possibly think you could represent the grass roots. Personally I think you're politics are barmy and desperately out of touch. I very much doubt if even most people in the Gazette will vote for you.

Ask yourself why do the right think that the NW is a jewel in the crown for the Amicus right. NW political committee is a joke in terms of left representation so what have you actually achieved for the left. I remember the gazette having the stupidity to bring one person who got no votes!

Regional board election all it would have required is a bit of work and you should have been back on easy. If you can't win an election that your union should have stitched up for you at regional conference with a ''left'' regional political officer in charge then how do you expect to win a national competitive election by OMOV.

The right dislike you because of your barmy politics. The left dislike you because of the sort of comments you made at the McDonnel meeting in Manchester. You can't bite the hand that feeds you pretending to be well plugged into the amicus machine and talking left.

And having Susan Press as your campaign manager will not do you any favours. Possibly the most hated person on the Cruddas campaign.

None of this portrays a particuarly good image of you.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#6)

mmmmm....... not sure where this comes from??......
Nevertheless, I would be interested to know the answer to why John wasnt able to sytay on the NW Regional Board, in the circumstances.
Also I have now been sent a copy of your cv john. Are you a still a councillor? someone told me that you havent been a councillor for several years, yet you claim to be a councillor for "West Sutton Ward." I have checked the St Helens MBC website and that ward doesnt appear on the list of wards and you dont appear as a councillor. You will remember my concern last week that you were still claiming to be a member of the NW Regional Board, which you are not, and you blamed the confusion on multiple thread posts. What I am asking now is from your CV. I am getting concerned. What are you doing now, what have you done in the past and for how long? The lines seem very blurred on your cv. Yet you claim to be standing for clarity.
I dont like to be pushed into voting for opaquely agreed slates, despite their politics, yet at the same time I am not happy abt being misled by an independant candidate who may not be what they seem to be. This is not a personal attack like the post before, merely a plea for clarity.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#9)

Is this alll because I am brave enough to take on the establishment?  I have listed positions as held or currently had.  Yes there is a mixture of past and present, but I have stated this.  I do have a lot of support as well as some not being happy(on both sides of the party, but it all comes down to honesty.  I am honest, I have either held or holding all of these positions.  The clarity is I have had the experience needed and thats what scares people.  You choice of vote is up to you all I can only put my name forward, if I win I will represent all actvists, if I don't it has raised some important issues on slates.

If you wish to discuss these issues call me 07903984157

Thanks

John

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#10)

I don't believe Susan Press was on the Cruddas campaign.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#15)

Dear Ernesto

If you look at earlier blogs I said what i was or was not doing.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#7)

Some valid points here, but as you say the right political committee nominated the candidate, which was not myself.  In the end we all have a choice.  Yes I was a councillor till boundary changes.  The end of the day I have stated what I am about.  Please feel free to support or not to support.

Thanks

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#12)

Ignore, I posted to the wrong comment

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#13)

This is totally out of order.

I guess there is some personal thing here to which most of us are not privy (some internal Amicus north-west thing?) but this sort of personal denunciation is precisely the sort of thing Labourhome should avoid.

Very unhelpful.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#14)

Was I really the most hated  person on the Cruddas campaign? Just for the record, I am NOT John's (or anyone's) campaign manager.
But I do believe in democracy and I do not believe the CLGA slate is democratic.
Democracy ie the right to vote   - is clearly not something the Cruddas camp has as much time for as i do.
I take it I was "hated"   as I spoke the truth   about them ie that Cruddas and his camp followers led the  McDonnellites  to believe they would help us get on the ballot - and that Cruddas  's campaign was  ultimately  a smokescreen hiding the fact the "left"  union leaders  were selling us down the river by supporting Brown.

Re: NEC Website Launched with CV (#8)

In fairness to Wiseman, the CV he posted the other day referred to his councillor and regional board positions as posts he had held, not current ones
