Clegg breaks cover in LibDem leadership race

At a fringe meeting of the Lib Dem conference, Lib Dem Home Affairs spokesman, Nick Clegg stated "if you are asking me would I stand against Ming, the answer is no".

He then went on to add "if there was a vacancy in the future then I probably would".

What does this say to you? To me this says, “dump Ming and I will go for it”.

Apparently in a Guardian/ICM opinion poll, Sir Menzies Campbell is now more popular than David Cameron.

Sounds like Ming’s and Cameron’s days are numbered.

Re: Clegg breaks cover in LibDem leadership race (#1)

He's from the Right of the party, has called for a hypothetical LibDem government to "break up the NHS", which the Tories daren't ever say too loudly if they want to stay electable.

Re: Clegg breaks cover (#2)

What's the poor man supposed to say? If he says he won't run in the future and then does, he's a liar. If he says he will run in the future he's undermining the present leader. Because of the way these things get reported the question has certain, 'And when did you stop abusing your wife?' qualities about it. Is it any wonder we get so many characterless drones in high office in all three main parties?

Re: Clegg breaks cover in LibDem leadership race (#3)

I can't see Ming being kicked out before the GE. But after that, I'm sure Clegg will take over.
