October 18th or November 8th?

Queues vanish, shares bounce and the big panic melts away. On top of this inflation is down and the Guardian ICM poll has Labour 8% ahead!

The high class gossip is that Brown may be considering October 18th or November 8th.

Should he?

Apart from Northern Rock, it does not get any better than this.

Brown is a strategist. He will get Northern Rock out of the way and call it. It is in the party's and his best interest for an early snap election.

He has probably planned this election since just after new years in 2006. Electoral returning officers up and down the country are ready.

Brown's move for a snap election will gain greater momentum if he thinks there is an economic crisis round the corner... and let's face it, he will be the one to know.

How about 25 Oct?

The clocks go back the following evening making camapigning harder (and probably affecting how many Lab come out to vote?)

Re: October 18th or November 8th? (#3)

What about all those selections that won't have taken place until late Nov early Dec?

Re: October 18th or November 8th? (#5)

Now this is just geting silly. November? No sane person wants an election in November, with thoughts of Xmas hols just round the corner. Lets wait till Spring or Summer next year.

I think it'll either be October 25th or we'll wait until May 2008.
