Quentin Davies defects - is Brown about to appoint him to government?

Quentin Davies has just defected from the Conservatives to Labour.  Fair enough - he is very much on the left of that party.  What are the odds on him joining the government in the reshuffle on Thursday?

Call us cynical, but there is no way Brown's people have not had a hand to play in the timing of this announcement which, for Labour, is perfect.

And the comments he makes about Cameron - "you have many positive qualities; you have three, superficiality, unreliability and an apparent lack of any clear convictions, which in my view ought to exclude you from the position of national leadership" - To call these damning would be an understatement.

If Blair could promote ex-Tory Shaun Woodward, then there is no reason why Brown cannot do the same to Davies.  Everyone says there will be some suprises in the reshuffle - perhaps this is going to be one of them.  What better way to get the boot into Cameron during your first days in office.  Just a thought.

Re: Quentin Davies defects (#1)

Does Quentin Davies believe in democratic socialism?

Does he believe in social democracy?

Does he even believe in centrism?

Re: Quentin Davies defects (#2)

Appointing this man out of spite would be a mistake.
This man is a thatcherite, climate sceptic, homophob.
Appointing him would be an insult to the 300+Labour mps who nominated Brown.

Re: Quentin Davies defects (#3)

A big mistake; back to the politics of cynicism; back to Punch and Judy. Don't even think of it Gordon.
