Question Time - verdict

What do we all think?  Somewhat more awkward and tougher for the candidates than Newsnight this one.

Some definite hostile vibes between Harriet and Hazel on show, with Hazel's "handbag wars" comment.  Hain giving off the "you've stolen my thunder" vibe to Cruddas - since when was Hain so concerned with affordable housing?  A bit of a Blears Johnson love-in at the end.  Harriet objecting to the Brown "patsy" jibe. Hmmmm........

...but Cruddas seems to have come out best - honest, straight answers to straight questions and when he couldn't think of one on the spot, said so - refreshing.

Not according to the spread-betting markets he didn't - he's drifted from 7/1 to 12/1 over the period of the show!
The main winner apparently was Johnson who tightened up quite a bit, with Harman also improving a nudge.

Current 'best prices' are:

Alan Johnson 5/4 --- 1.2/1 Hilary Benn 5/4 --- 2.3/1 John Cruddas 5/1 --- 12/1 Harriet Harman 7/1 --- 6.8/1 Blears, Hazel 25/1 --- 99/1 Peter Hain 33/1 --- 59/1

The first price is the standard bookie best odds, the second is spreadbetting best odds.

So compared to the last time I posted this, Johnson has edged ahead of Benn overall, and Hain and Blears have moved further out in the markets.

Re: Question Time - verdict (#2)

A superb QT, with all 6 on top form; all a credit to Labour. The discussion was good humoured throughout. No clear winners.

Re: Question Time - verdict (#3)

I watched Newsnight instead. I could not bear the idea of listening to the deputy leadership candidates for a whole hour.

Re: Question Time - verdict (#4)

I watched the documentary about Deep Throat. Far more entertaining.

Re: Question Time - verdict (#5)

Thank God it will soon be over. Most LP members I know  didn't particularly  want to vote for any of them (and have friends from ALL wings of Party)Sadly; looks as though will be Johnson

Re: Question Time - verdict (#6)

In fact it all depends on the MP's, who I think will plump for Johnson as a safe pair of hands, and the Unions, who will also plump for Johnson, as someone who's actually done a decent 'working class' job in their previous existence. The constituencies would prefer Harman or Cruddas, but there's no predicting what would happen if either got in, or how long they'd last.
