Putney branch nominations

Putney branches have now completed their nominating process, with the following results:

East Putney ward
* Male - Stuart King
* Female - Eleanor Tunnicliffe
* BME - Mark McDonald

Roehampton ward
*Male - Stuart King
*Female - Elisabeth Davies
*BME - Floyd Millen

Southfields ward
* Male - Stuart King
* Female - Eleanor Tunnicliffe
* BME - Mohammed Khaliel

Thamesfield ward
* Male - Stuart King
* Female - Elisabeth Davies
* BME - Mark McDonald
West Hill ward
* Male - Stuart King
* Female - Elisabeth Davies
* BME - Mohammed Khaliel

West Putney ward
* Male - Stuart King
* Female - Elisabeth Davies
* BME - Floyd Millen

So that's 6 out of 6 for Stuart King - I also understand that he's likely to pick up the CWU affiliate nomination, so 7 out of 7, 4 for Elisabeth Davies, and 2 apiece for Eleanor Tunnicliffe, Floyd Millen, Mohammed Khaliel and Mark McDonald.

I also hear that Stuart King won not just every single nomination going, but every single vote of members in attendance.

With all due respect to the local insight Wiseman claims he has (see "Wimbledon & Putney selections" thread) I can't see how he thinks Floyd Millen is the favourite here.

I understand the CLP wants a shortlist of six. Given that only three women applied, they're all shortlisted. Stuart King is obviously shortlisted, so one of the BME candidates is going to have to be chopped at the shortlisting stage.

I suspect that's the most exciting this one's going to get.

Re: Putney branch nominations (#1)

how many men were competing in the "male nomination" section?

Re: Putney branch nominations (#2)

21 men all told - that includes those men eligible for the BME category too (this way of doing things makes it sound an awful lot like Crufts doesn't it?)

I think about a dozen or so (male and female) attended the "meet the members GC" last month.

Re: Putney branch nominations (#3)

I do feel it is a direct fight between Floyd and Stuart with staurt being the slight favourite, but as I would say before I have been through and witnessed a number of selections and hustings and this Floyd lad is good and believe me may win it on the hustings.

Note - if members locally in Putney go quiet.  Thats usually a sign!!

Re: Putney branch nominations (#5)

OK, we'll have to agree to differ on his chances I guess. And of course we'll need to see if Floyd gets on the shortlist first, shan't we: Mohammed Khaliel seems to have some local support and Mark McDonald has made the Wimbledon shortlist so he can obviously string a sentence together too. However, where there are qualified and capable local candidates - and there are three on the shortlist: Stuart, Elisabeth and Eleanor in my experience it would take a candidate of extraordinary brilliance to overcome their inbuilt advantages. But given that Stuart King's evidently been working the members (because you don't get 100% of the votes if you don't) and from what I hear no-one else has yet bothered, on any objective measure this one is done and dusted.

Re: Putney branch nominations (#4)

Thanks.

If Stuart King is going to sweep the final vote in the same way of the male nomination, some can end up with 0 first preferences which is not very flattering!
