Alan Milburn?Who he?

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#2)

Former Health Minister. Top bloke, ideal candidate for next PM.

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#3)

ducks and covers

:)

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#4)

If you look at politics as satire, Alan Milburn is the ideal opponent to David Cameron, as they are not entirely dissimilar in appearance.

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#6)

Much as I agree with Milburn on issue after issue, I don't think i'd vote for him to be Leader - the party would just implode.

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#7)

Stephen Byers for Chancellor?

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#8)

lol

I think there's a not insignificant number of Labour MPs who's heads would literally explode

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#9)

Milburn and Byers have always been too "snotty" for my personal taste, but Benn/Balls/Cooper/Woolas/Fitzpatrick/ have a certain "rounded" attitude that would help a lot in rescueing the reputation of politics IMHO.

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#10)

I agree. I agree with a lot of what Milburn and Byers say, but the future lies with the people you mention (and quite a few others)

I'm crossing my fingers that Miliband will turn around and decide to stand against Gordon Brown for the Leadership.

Re: 'The Labour Party Post Blair' (#11)

You'd  have to have a heart of stone  not to laugh. He has very nice hair, though.

re Cityuniversityclub:
"membership consists mainly of brokers, bankers and lawyers."  Ideal New Labour venue then?
