Re: Stockton North Shortlist (#1)

10 to 1 on Barbara Roche.

Re: Stockton North Shortlist (#2)

I would take those odds. Barbara Roche should be no worse than second favourite and really should be no bigger than 5/2. By all accounts she has been assiduously working the seat for well over a year and has the backing of a number of the party branches and the GMB and Unite trade unions.

Frank Cook's dwindling band of supporters won't back her with any enthusiasm, but they hate Alex Cunningham more for being behind numerous deselection attempts in the past.  It is possible for Norma Stephenson to sneak through the middle on this (or even for Cook to stay on), but Roche's chances of winning are pretty good.

Re: Stockton North Shortlist (#3)

I hope at the hustings there will be time to discuss whether Rosa Ponselle or Maria Callas was the greatest coloratura soprano. I think we in the Labour Party have been silent about this for far too long.

Re: Stockton North Shortlist (#4)

Its not over till the f*t lady sings.

Re: Stockton North Shortlist (#5)

Maria Callas regarded Rosa Ponselle as the better singer, if that helps.

Re: Stockton North Shortlist (#6)

Norma, can't sing but she'll make a dam good MP.
