Time to Blitz the Tories on Party Funding?

It's time that those of us who blog about Labour used the internet to highlight the Tory hypocrisy on party funding.

Our own self-inflicted wounds on this topic may stop the national party from attacking as much as they could - but there is no need for this to stop individual activists from going on the offensive.

Fair Deal Phil from Linconshire picks up on a story in this weekend's Observer about the Midlands Industrial Council, an anonymous group registered to a terraced house in Lincolnshire that has given almost £1m to the Conservative party.

The recent Electoral Commission quarterly reports confirmed that the Tories are continuing to hide the sources of some of their loans. But usually in media coverage this has been hidden in the small print behind a headline focussing on Labour - this bbc story being typical of the coverage. But as the Electoral Commission summary reveals, whereas Labour (and the Liberal Democrats) have now declared ALL loans, the Tories are continuing to hide details of certain historic loans. Why?

Its a shame we don't have a Labour Guido. We need a blogger with the contacts to root out exactly what's going on and expose stuff like this.

Yes - but Blair's chief fundraiser was arrested and released on bail and the Tories didn't create a new law then purposefully get round it by explicitly asking for loans instead of donations.
