Alex's Conference Diary: Fun with the BBC
There was a particularly cruel jibe at ITV news when Culshaw impersonated Sir Trevor MacDonald, saying, "Welcome to ITV news - Warning, may contain news", a joke that received a mixture of laughs and boos. BBC DG Mark Thompson had tears in his eyes as he declared "It's true! It's true!"
However, the highlight of the evening occurred when Euan Blair asked to be introduced to Culshaw so he could berate him for "camping up" his dad. Not to miss an opportunity the radio star asked for some tips - so nearby revellers witnessed the surreal vision of Euan doing a Tony Blair impression for John Culshaw. I wonder if Tony will do an impression of Culshaw during his speech today.
