David Cameron - Foreign Policy

I was a Parliamentary candidate at the last general election. My Conservative opponent was Ed Vaizey, friend and close confident of David Cameron and of course a fellow member of the `Notting Hill' set. On more than one occasion Ed publicly supported the Prime Minister on his policies on both Iraq and Afghanistan. Indeed he took time out from being a candidate to attend the pre-election Republican Convention in New York as a representative of the Conservative party. Yesterday, amongst other criticisms of the US, David Cameron dismissed some aspects of US foreign policy as both "simplistic and unrealistic". There are many who will read his speech and agree with his sentiment. But is he (and his party) a hypocrite or has he really found his road to Damascus?

It is interesting to note who David Cameron felt were successful partnerships: Churchill / Roosevelt, Thatcher / Regan and Major / Bush. I wonder how many catastrophic military actions they were responsible for!

It is also worthy to note what happened to Paul Martin when he criticised the US in an attempt to win an election - Stephen Harper won!
