The price of gold

The London Olympic budget has been increased by 900 million from its initial cost of £3.3 billion it was revealed in a speech by Tereza Jowell.

It was reported that one journalist said that during her speech he only caught about 20% of what she said because Tim Shipman of the Daily Mail spent the entire hour repeating the mantra 'I told you so, I told you so, tsk what do you bloody expect.'  I really hate to say it, but I agree with the journo from the Mail.  The London Olympics will be over-budget, late, and full of self-congratulatory bullshit. I was very disappointed when the bid succeeded as I was looking forward to the French winning, as their tax payers can shoulder the costs of this unmitigated disaster. Despite the Olympic Delivery Authority's pronouncement that the Olympics would provide, a new (Permanently Clogged) infrastructure for London and the South East, the regeneration of the most deprived area in the UK, housing for 40,000 (Middle-class) people, a 6 to 7 year job boom (For the Polish economy) and at the end of it all a 2 week party. (All of which I  will avoid as much as I can)  We will still be paying for this awful sporting and financial disaster for years to come, and we,ll still only have a handful of worthless medals.
