The campaigning over, the celebrations for the Democrats still continuing, what now for the american people, or indeed for that matter, the rest of us?
A Democrat controlled Congress does not guarantee that a post Bush administration will be a Democrat one, however issues such as the war in Iraq will be affected. My concern however is by how much? The encouraging thing abour Robert Gates's appointment as Rumsfeld's successor is that he may well realise the importance of concentrating on Afghanistan, although that is not to say one should ignore Iraq, especially with the insurgency problems there and the recent sentencing to death of Saddam Hussein!
