Labour clinches Gore signature

Labour's shock new signing...

In a transfer that has sent shockwaves across the globe, New Labour has signed former American hotshot Al Gore to spearhead its attack on global warming.  Gore was once tipped for greatness over in the States before a cruel tackle ended his career in the American game.  The sports governing body chose to ignore the flagrant illegality of the tackle, instead choosing to side with the American leagues wealthiest and most established side, Bush-Cheney United.

Over in Britain, the New Labour signing has seriously undermined the expected Conservative Academicals challenge next season.  The Tories (as the Academicals are known), expected to make global warming it's number one tactic, and had built their team around young, but unproven playmaker, Zack Goldsmith.  Fans of New Labour are no doubt delighted by such a big name joining their team.

New Labour fan John, from Preston said: "It's a huge signing for us.  Those Tories were looking good, but compared to Gore, Goldsmith is a lightweight."  "We've stolen the charge," said Ash from Leicester.

Calling from his Surry mansion, Tory fan Charles Huffleton-Winchester-Poppycock, cried foul, "this is just like NuLabour [spit]; they always steal our tactics!"

The New Labour management have not yet commentated on the development, but are expected to disclose the signing to their fans sometime over the next couple of days.

Re: Labour clinches Gore signature (#1)

Let us hope that Al Gore brings his proven election track-record to Gordon Brown.

This looks like a marriage made in heaven.

Re: Labour clinches Gore signature (#2)

This means that David Milliband will be off on a free transfer to Tourquey United.
